 Still sketching... these drawings are made from TV images as you can see by the format and composition. They learn me to sketch quickly and they give ideas. Love doing this.

Need for shelters

Are you in need of a shelter? I think we sometimes all are. The feeling to hide, to rest, to be comforted. I had this image in mind and tried to draw it.

You can find shelters in all different places:

- curled up like this drawing

- in an embrace of a person (known or unknown)

- in a physical building, like sheltering for the rain or sun

- in silence

- in the comfort of nature

- in presence of God

- in art

We need these shelters to heal and refresh.

The beginning

 This weekend I started two new portraits, and this is the beginning: a sketch for dimensions, composition. I start with a background colour, and then sketch with either a small brush or some charcoal.

There can be many problems: the composition is not right, the head is too large in comparison, something in the face is off-balance. I take some steps back and try to solve these, you'd better have a good sketch to start with, otherwise you might end up unhappy with the result.

Talking about green

 In may I spent a week in the Alps, and wow it was green! Trees were budding, the fields were full of flowers and the small creeks were full of water.

Look at this view, it was almost too green, a bit unreal... but lovely to hike and to enjoy.

Now I am back and working in the studio. The studio is open for visit this Friday and Saturday, 11-16 hours. I hope to show some new products and paintings. Welcome to drop by!
