Family craft in Uppercase Magazine

One of my favourite magazines is the Canadian Uppercase Magazine. 

Probably because it is about graphics, craft, words, letters and art... 

It has really nice articles about Makers and their passion for their work.

Sometimes there is a call for stories about craft. 

When I saw there was one about Lace, I send in a story about a family-member. 

I have inherited a box full of hand-made lace and doilies made by my great-aunt, and maybe even her mother. They are so delicate, it is a craft we are almost losing.

Therefore, I was glad to see they published the story in Uppercase.

I have also found a book on Dutch lace and its history, which I like to read. 

And the lace inspired me to some drawings, here's one:

it is summer time!

My neighbour is harvesting his potatoes and fruit, flowers are all around 

the studio and I am working on bits and bobs. A large painting, 

a small one, a new technique and crafting with my nieces... and so on.

There is no focus... which I would like but I am too restless... don't know why.

Drawings from the sketchbook

In these busy times I have to find time to practice my skills, I love to grab my sketchbook and just make some drawings without thinking too much.

Market scenes are somehow always there in my mind.

And then trying different styles, just experimenting:

I find there is still so much to learn and to discover. I recently made my first screenprint: 

a portrait of a woman. The technique is really something for me, printing my drawing on textile and so on.
