in the studio

it is summer time!

My neighbour is harvesting his potatoes and fruit, flowers are all around 

the studio and I am working on bits and bobs. A large painting, 

a small one, a new technique and crafting with my nieces... and so on.

There is no focus... which I would like but I am too restless... don't know why.

Drawings from the sketchbook

In these busy times I have to find time to practice my skills, I love to grab my sketchbook and just make some drawings without thinking too much.

Market scenes are somehow always there in my mind.

And then trying different styles, just experimenting:

I find there is still so much to learn and to discover. I recently made my first screenprint: 

a portrait of a woman. The technique is really something for me, printing my drawing on textile and so on.

Around the studio I found...

inspiration from the countryside. I rescued this butterfly, it was stuck in my studio. I took the opportunity to make a close-up, beautiful colour and detail. Look at his eyes...

Inspiration from Sweden

View from our cottage

We travelled through Sweden, a country full of room, silence and nature, especially off-season.

We enjoyed the landscape and the houses, the coffee with buns and the nature.

I took the occasion to visit the Zorn Museum, all about the painter Anders Zorn. I had seen some of his paintings in the Netherlands and really liked them. In the Museum there were also drawings and knives he designed himself.

Between making figurative paintings and teaching how to draw 

I took some time to just enjoy making a painting... 

reconnecting with what I like to make, trying to paint without analyzing and it was good!
