And this is the result

This is how my watercolour base turned out:
into happy and sunny flowerfields.
I made them into cards to send some happiness to others.

Sending love to Italy!

Sending love to Italy, a beautiful country with warm people.
We hope this crisis will soon end.
Take care of each other, and for those who work in CARE functions.

On my desk

On my desk: making a base for some flower-cards. I made the base with water colour, and will paint or draw flowers on top of it.
Then I will cut the paper in small parts to collage cards.
It takes some time, but I like seeing how it develops and I also like to produce, having a hands-on job of making production.

Stay safe

I hope you can find refuge in these crazy times of the virus spreading over the world.
We will all have to adjust and take care of each other.
For me as an artist working alone in my studio, not so much changes,
it encourages me to spend my time wisely,
and to have my eyes open for people in my circle.
Fortunately, the weather is bringing sunshine this week, and nature is about to burst into spring, which can be so comforting.
Wishing you good and safe times!

Small world

Just outside my studio these small worlds are appearing,
worlds of different mosses and lichens.
There are many different varieties on a small spot,
I like them, so I just take a picture now and then.

My book shelf for inspiration

Here is a picture of (part of) my book collection which I use for inspiration.
Of course there is a book on the paintings of Claude Monet, I like looking at his use of colour.
There are several Dutch painters/illustrators which I like, for instance Toon Hermans, Jan Sluyters, Dick Bruna (graphical designs). I also have a lot of books on techniques.
And gallery cataloques to enhance my knowledge of painters, and to look at all the different styles to make a landscape or still-life. When you look at different styles often, you start to develop your own taste: you open up a page and instantly there is this particular painting which you like.
